The first ten posts of #CozyMysteryMay

This month I participated in #CozyMysteryMay, the brainchild of cozy author Rosie Pease. I know some folks are only on a particular social media thang so I thought I would reprint each day every ten days or so in case anyone wanted to peruse all at once.

Since today is May 10th, let’s get to it!

Day 1 – Introduce Yourself

I failed.

I may have failed, but many other authors did not. Check out this Twitter feed of Day 1 introductions from all the authors far more on the ball than yours truly.

Day 2 – May Goals

I got more on the ball on Day 2, and yay for that. We were asked to share our May goals, and that one was pretty easy to come up with. Book 6 is done, and it’s not out yet. The book must get out.

Checking Twitter I noticed that there were a few more authors participating, which was awesome. And it also meant that I wasn’t the only one that flaked out on Day 1.

Check out the collection of Day 2’s from all the cozy authors participating on Twitter here!

Day 3 – Book Covers

This one was super fun for me since I tend to brainstorm as I create the cover theme for the next series I’m thinking of working on. The more I like the cover, the more I tend to want to write the series.

The first cover I shared has actually morphed into a slightly different cover and a finalized weather theme. The crow is also now a small back cat—those of you on my mailing list will have already seen it, as well as read the story of its transition.

The second cover is for a proposed Fortuna Delphi series (which will be a spinoff of the Magical Midway). This one and the one above are currently being written interspersed with the Magical Midway books.

The third cover is probably the least set and settled. My husband is an avid poker player and I wanted to do a cozy theme that resonated with him. (I can play poker, I just wouldn’t call myself avid. My husband calls it going on tilt, but I just think it’s not wanting to sit and do nothing on a night out.) Anyway, I wanted to try my hand at a culinary cozy, as well. This one might be it.

It also may never see the light of day. We’ll see.

(Yes, I see the typo. My bad.)

Day 10: Fav TV or Movie Sleuth

Dude. Just one? Are you kidding?

  • Veronica Mars
  • Sherlock Holmes as played by Benedict Cumberbatch
  • Sherlock Holmes as played by Jonny Lee Miller
  • Shawn Spencer from Psych

are my top favorites.

Thanks to reading everyone else’s Day 10 picks, I also apparently really need to watch Monk and Miss Fisher Mysteries.
